NOISE: NOISE ABATEMENT procedures in effect, contact airport operations 970–920–5760 ext 0. AIRPORT REMARKS: Attended 1400–0600Z‡. Airport CLOSED 0600–1400Z‡. Birds and other wildlife on and in the vicinity of runways. Watch for wildlife on or near runways. Wind cones located 60 foot west of Taxiway A centerline. CAUTION: High traffic intersection — aircraft routinely hold short of Taxiway A4 on Taxiway A when inbound to terminal or general aviation ramp. All arriving aircraft from 2000 to 2300 local must announce CTAF 118.85 when they are 20, 15, 10 and 5 miles out and on short final. Equipment may be on the runway. Runway 00X exists to support the PKN LDA associated with this airport for flight inspection purposes. For aircraft service contact UNICOM. Hang gliders, paragliders, hot air balloons and glider operations on and in the vicinity of airport up to 18,000´ MSL. All commercial aircraft advise prior to pushback onto Taxiway A. Airport located in high mountain valley with mountainous terrain from 12,500´–14,000´ MSL in near proximity to airport, numerous unlighted obstruction. All adverse weather situations magnified in mountains. Airport restricted to max aircraft wingspan of 95´. Operations during periods of reduced visibility discouraged for pilots unfamiliar with area. Unless ceilings are at least 2000´ above highest terrain and visibility is 15 miles or more, mountain flying is not recommended. Due to high approach minimums pilots may need an IFR alternate even though weather is forecast to be higher than 2000´–3. Terrain will not allow for normal traffic patterns. High rates of descent may be required due to terrain and local procedures. Unique VFR departures procedures exist, call airport operations 970–920–5760, or FBO 970–920–2016 for more information. FBO require 2 hours advance notice for staging aircraft prior to departures. For all general aviation operations between 30 minutes after sunset to 0600Z‡ the following applies, aircraft equipped as required under FAR 91.205(D) for instruction flight, pilot is instrument rated, VFR pilot–in–command has completed at least one takeoff or landing in the preceding 12 months at ASE. IFR, execute approach/departures procedures with ATC clearance. Aircraft requiring IFR should file flight plan with flight service 45 minutes prior to estimated departures. Prior Permission Required for takeoff on Runway 15 contact FBO 970–920–2016. Review of airplane performance recommended include density altitude, weight and balance and climb performance. Due to poor visibility in valley, use landing lights in traffic pattern. TPA for light aircraft 9023(1185), TPA for heavy aircraft 9523(1685). Uncontrolled traffic on the ramps. Runway 33 run–up area not visible from tower. Pilots are responsible for passenger in ramp area. Pedestrians and vehicles cannot enter taxiways without ATC clearance. Stay on the solid side of the red boundary marking line. Cold temperature airport. Altitude correction required at or below –21C. Landing fee.
